What's the deal with Pokemon Go?
We think it's cool! Though we have serious concerns about some safety issues that arise from how it's been designed--issues we feel young people and those who care for them should be aware of.
We—the youth workers of Phoenix Youth Support Service, a youth service on the Central Coast at Gravity Youth Centre, Lake Haven—would like to run some events, groups, workshops, or create some resources to help raise awareness of how young people can play Pokemon Go safely.
Two of our youth workers are not only experienced gamers, but also qualified, experienced youth workers who know a lot about internet, mobile phone, and social media ("cyber") safety and have facilitated groups on the subject.
How you can help
If you are the parent/carer of a young person, a young person yourself, or someone who works with them , we want your feedback--please take a moment to leave a comment or fill out our short survey about Pokemon Go:
Please share this with anyone you know who plays or cares for young people who use Pokemon Go. Thanks!
